A brief history
Started by David Sullivan an ex London Bobby who loved driving as a family business, Lucky Country Coaches began as Vi’s Travel club taking small groups to The NSW border to play the Pokies in a Little Yellow Toyota Minibus called ” Little Betsie”.
They used to pickup and drop off at home after a great day out or weekend at the Pokies. Meals and accomodation was included for as little as $30 each at the time.
At the time the only way you could operate within the state was if your individual bus was licensed for fare paying passengers by the state authorities. After deciding to do this it was necessary to go to the state tribunal and face a judge very much like a court case.
after the successful completion of the tribunal the license was granted and the judge suggested the formation of a company.
Hence Lucky Country Coaches was born. after gaining two more licenses. the Quality assured maintenance scheme was introduced by Transport Victoria. this eventually lead to Accreditation schemes for bus operators.
